Overview

How hiring a non-EU worker works in Slovakia.

Most Pakistani workers enter Slovak employment on a single permit — temporary residence for the purpose of employment. The employer first reports the vacancy to the local Labour, Social Affairs and Family Office (ÚPSVaR). If it is not filled locally, the office issues a confirmation that the job can be filled by a third-country national; the worker then applies for the single permit, which the Foreign Police decide. Occupations on Slovakia's shortage lists follow a faster track. Highly qualified roles can use the EU Blue Card instead.

Corridor detail

Typical sequence and timing.

Report the vacancy → labour office confirmation → single permit application → police decision → national visa D for entry → arrival and registration. Timing depends mostly on the labour office and police caseload in your district; shortage occupations and districts with low unemployment move faster. We prepare the candidate side in parallel so nothing waits on Pakistan.
